masa 14, korean chicken

Masa 14 + Giveaway!

Korean_chix{Korean Fried Chicken}

When we found out that one of our all time favs Masa 14 announced a new Chef de Cuisine, Ryan Ratino along with a new winter menu, we knew it was time to put on our stretchy pants and find out what the hype was all about. If you follow our snapchat, you saw that a few weeks back we had the opportunity to do just that and what a delectable experience that was! Chef Richard Sandoval never disappoints but I don’t think either of us were prepared for this new direction and the delicious new items now available on the menu. For about three hours we got the opportunity to taste everything from the mouth watering tuna sashimi, spanish octopus, and scallop crudo to the incredible striploin & bone marrow and Korean fried chicken that leaves you wondering if you even remember what used to be on the old menu. But not to worry, if you had your favorites from Masa’s previous menu, most likely they’re still available, you’ll just have a lot more amazing food to choose from.

We also loved meeting Chef Ryan Ratino during the tasting. A soft-spoken and incredibly pleasant and knowledgeable chef who brings an impressive array of experience and a progressive American culinary style to the restaurant’s kitchen. During the course of our dinner he shared his passion for building relationships with local farms and purveyors to source the best artisanal products available – a movement we definitely support and take pride in as DC residents. {Short Rib Ravioli with foie gras – secret menu item}

Our favorite part of the dinner was trying the “secret menu item”, the Short Rib Ravioli with foie gras. Believe us when we tell you that this is a MUST try. Remember, it’s not on the menu so you have to know about it in order to order it…but doesn’t that make it even more exciting? It’s like being a foodie industry insider and we like the sound of that. Oh and it also doesn’t hurt that this was by far one of the most delicious dishes we’ve ever tried, ever!

The new menu style still offers shared plates but it also includes larger, family style dishes like the Korean Fried Chicken and the Black Garlic Marinated Striploin with Bone Marrow. It’s perfect for sharing on a date or in a large group. Also, if you’re like us and love Masa’s bottomless and small plates brunch, it’s definitely still available for the same great $39 price!

But wait it gets even better. We have partnered with Masa 14 to give away a dinner for two with a tasting of the new winter (shared four courses) menu and a bottle of wine. Use the Rafflecopter below to enter the giveaway. Good luck!
