The Betsy

The Betsy

The Betsy is a fun, intimate, open-air rooftop serving American BBQ and has a cocktail menu that focuses on all things gin. Named after his favorite flock, this secret spot just so happens to be inspired by the chickens in Chef Bart Vandaele’s backyard.

What: The Betsy

Location: 514 8th Street SE (Back Alley) Washington DC 20003. (Tip: To find Betsy, head to Belga, then go behind the building, through the graffiti-painted alley, and up the stairs to locate your hidden summer oasis. Or, follow the signs and chicken feet graffiti’ed on the sidewalk. Betsy will show you the way!)

What We Loved: You must sample the buffalo chicken croquettes and the Lumpia style chicken & crab stick, I can almost taste it now! For a great cocktail choice, try the Bombay Sapphire, it includes fentimans tonic, cucumber, and watermelon ice. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

SCDC Tip: Grab some friends, order some of the shareable appetizers, so this way everyone can try something off the menu. The Betsy is the perfect place to have a private outdoor rooftop party.
