SCDC Travels: The Poconos

The Poconos

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of being invited to a beautiful mini getaway to The Poconos. We stayed at the Chateau Resort & Conference Center. Our suites were two levels with a beautiful staircase that takes you to your bed. The rooms are very spacious but still cozy. Our first stop after arriving was a mini tour and dinner at Camelback Lodge. Their wonderful staff greeted us with cocktails which was perfect after a four hour road trip. Throughout the entire trip we felt like kids all over again wanting to jump in the pool or start playing video games. I now wish we actually did that! lol

The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort
Day #1: Our first day there the group went water rafting. I stayed behind because my unadventurous self can’t swim. But I heard it was a lot of fun and the views were incredible! I might one day actually give it a shot and bond with mother nature. Later that evening we had a farm to table dinner at Shawnee Craft Brewery which was delicious. Each meal was paired with a beer and throughout the dinner we learned a bit more about the brewery and what activities are offered at Poconos. It was def the highlight of our trip and we can’t wait to go back for some glamping!

The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort
About Shawnee Craft Brewery:The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort sits on the edge of the pristine Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and on the banks of the wild and scenic Delaware River. The resort offers wealth of outdoor recreation opportunities including kayaking, canoeing, rafting, biking, hiking and fishing.

Day #2: After dinner and a day of exploring the resort, our second day we spent visiting the beautiful new Kalahari Resort. I have to be honest, I’m not a huge fan of family type of resorts or water parks — maybe it has something to do with the fact that I don’t have a family of my own yet, but Kalahair might have changed my mentality. This resort feels like it has no ending and has something great to offer for every member of your family. They have everything from an indoor water park to an arcade, a beautiful restaurant, Spa and salon services and the rooms looked super comfy! I look forward to having the full experience with my nephews later this year.

After the tour we ended the day with lunch at Desaki which was so entertaining. Everyone that worked there was super attentive and the space was HUGE! Def a good place to host a party. The food was super yummy and we def tasted a bit of everything on the menu and even took some left overs back home with us. Desaki offers pickups from local resorts, which is so conveniently great. They also thought of every way to keep the kidos entertained, including Xbox game consoles and lots of dancing. Dasaki is definitely a must place to eat at the Poconos, especially if you love sushi.

About Kalahari:
With 100,000 square feet of wet & wild indoor fun, featuring a retractable roof, guests will be able to splash all day long in the newest of America’s largest indoor waterparks (recently named the World’s Coolest Indoor Waterparks from Conde Nast Traveler). At Kalahari Resorts and Conventions, you’ll be transported to an authentically-African, world away, beyond expectations.

About Desaki: Desaki Japanese Restaurant is the Pocono Mountains’ foremost destination for sizzling Hibachi and fresh Sushi! It is located just minutes from Mount Airy Casino Resort, Great Wolf Lodge, Kalahari Resorts and Conventions, The Crossings Premium Outlets, Camelback Mountain and so much more.
